Who we are

We are a research group that has long been involved in research in the field of biomechanics and assistive technologies, with a particular focus on the recording and processing of physiological and biomechanical data. We are based at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, CTU.

Due to the location of the FBMI in Kladno, our laboratory is equipped primarily with instruments suitable for both scientific research and teaching, even outside the premises of the faculty. For this reason, the laboratory is equipped mainly with portable and universal instruments:

  • portable camera systems for the study of human movement,
  • wireless gyro-accelerometer systems for the study of movement,
  • SEMG measurement system,
  • systems for measuring physiological data,
  • system for measuring surface properties of materials,
  • strain gauge system,
  • 3D printer and scanners,
  • a functional model of an upper limb prosthetic arm,
  • a dynamic rotating platform with cameras to measure animal movement,
  • stabiliometric platforms, dynamic platforms, force gauges, etc.
// Experience. Performance. Quality.

What we actually do

We also deal with ...

design of electronic systems and methods for measurement and evaluation of biomedical data. An important area of our activity is also the development and testing of mechatronic elements of medical devices, especially assistive devices. We collaborate with many institutions and research institutes, including those in foreign countries. For example, we cooperate with academic and research institutions of the Motol Hospital in Prague, CIIRC of the Czech Technical University, Faculty of Medicine of the Czech Technical University, Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové, VFN in Prague, Faculty of Physical Therapy of the University of Olomouc, Faculty of Physical Therapy of the University of Brno, Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University in Brno and others.
